Change: Part II

Hi there! I hope you read the last blog because this one is more of a continuation of it. So if you haven’t read it yet, check it out here.

You might be thinking, why is she going around in circles? Just get to the point! Fine, I’ll share my two bits of honesty. Motivation is a myth. Discipline and action will change your life. But, as I've said before humans hate change. So, now you might want a reason to change your life. Well, look at yourself, your life. How do you feel? The way you feel about your current situation is really enough. If it’s not good enough for you, then try to find something else but motivation.
Motivation is the effect or byproduct of the action you take, discipline is the cause. Nobody tells you why motivation is a myth because it’s clearly misunderstood. Everybody reading this blog here, loves eating pizza (I am hoping), right? I love pizza, too. Why? Because it tastes good, it makes your soul org*sm. But you started loving pizza only after you took the second bite, and then the entire piece. Basically, the first bite motivated you to take the second bite. Why you took the first bite is really subjective but you felt the need to take the second bite because it was so good. Because your mind is disciplined to take one bite after another and motivation comes later in the picture. Don’t you think that if you start taking action, making tiny little changes in your life then maybe, just maybe, you’ll develop the need to keep going because you love the way a certain thing makes you feel?
People do things because they must benefit them in some way, intentionally or unintentionally, whatever way, they do it for themselves. So if you genuinely want to bring change in your life, you must realize it’s only for you and not for somebody else. This change may be for your betterment. I won’t guarantee that the change will be visible in one day because it’s not, but I can guarantee that doing it every day does make a huge difference. Yes, there is a high possibility you’ll hate what you are doing but it’s because you have been in that misery for so long that even peace feels uncomfortable. Because change is difficult. Oh and please remember that change is not linear. On some days, change will be visible, while on others - you won’t feel it at all. But I hope you know giving even 1% in your everyday life will drive results. Discipline will take you miles further than motivation will because you are showing up every day even when you don’t feel like showing up. You are making a choice.
When you show up when you don’t feel, your brain immediately starts understanding “Oh okay this is important. We are supposed to do this irrespective of what we feel or our environment unless there is no solution” and that slowly turns into a habit, and then a natural tendency. You need to set a few rules, boundaries, and habits in your life in order to change your life. The self-help books aren’t wrong. No matter which one you pick up, each one of them is selling a better lifestyle to you, for you.
Change is again a result of your actions. Actions based on your choices. Your life solely is your responsibility because it is yours. Your existence is your responsibility, and so is everything you do. That is karma. Karma means action. Karma is your own doing. The consequences of those actions may be uncontrollable or unknown to you, but your reactions are totally in your control.
So yeah, there you go. I made my points. Now, before I go I hope you know I've written this blog based on my understanding and personal experience; if you feel there is something different, I would love to hear your point of view! Have a great day! Written by Vanshika Patil
