Change: Part I

Believe me when I say I am a little lost while writing this blog, especially on a topic I am still not completely sure if I am the right person to comment on, but I’m gonna write it anyway.

Exactly six years back I came across this quote, “Change is the only constant” and it was not until two years later I realized the actual meaning behind it, that change is the only constant. Pause for a quick minute. Stop scrolling stop reading this blog for a minute and look around you. Look at yourself. Look how much has changed. Okay, come back now; Hey, don’t shut the app off. Read. Change is pretty predictable. Absurd, right? Because you just know it’s going to happen, but you may not know what change is coming your way. You know a seed is supposed to grow into a tree but you don’t know if it will. Stupid thought process, you might be thinking. But look at yourself. Setting goals and failing at achieving them. Cute.
We humans hate change. We are living examples of the law of inertia - “A body will stay in its original state until an external force is applied to it.” We love being in comfort because it’s safe. After all, we know what is happening. We might mentally masturbate that “new year, new goals” which is not wrong but is it ideal? Does the new year change a person? Or more specifically their ideals? That much? Huh. Everyone joins the gym on the 1st of Jan but hardly 1% of people last till the year. Change is invisible to the naked eye and it’s a catalyst within itself.
So the first thing in order to change, you need to prepare yourself to experience that change. I might even be wrong but— f*ck I am not. It’s pure science. It's a game of energy. For a long time, I’ve had this notion that you can change if you plan, research, and execute it. It’s so easy. No! I mean in theory it is certainly easy, but in reality, it’s the furthest thing from your belief. I’ll never say research and planning is not important. Oh, it is, but if you don’t have a mindset that is open to the change itself, the fact that there is more than one possibility after that change takes place and that any of it can come your way, then really you need to work on that first. You can’t just be planning and certainly expecting to be “delusional” about it. That’s foolishness. There is a thin line between being delusional and being foolish. I’ve been both and both of these things have worked out for me.
You need planning to need your execution and not the other way around. You need a plan to help you navigate your actions and not the other way around. But, then again how you do get into this mindset of change? I love physics and I have this personal faith - To run, you need to gain momentum first then you can set yourself into motion. But then why do some people experience change easily and while some don’t? Because everyone’s rate of momentum is different. Everyone takes time to change. So the second thing in order to change is you need to understand that everyone is different; Comparison is the death of joy.
Everyone leads a different life, on a different timeline and that is completely alright. Someone living in the city longs to live in a bigger one, someone having a small car longs to own a bigger one, and so on. You got the gist. And I mean isn’t it beautiful really that we all are living a life different than others, even if the struggles may be the same, but everyone common, uncommon, like you and me - lives a life different from each other. So, relax. You are perfectly on your time. Yeah, society has put us into this perpetual struggle of achieving our goals before a certain age, or within a time frame but it is f*cking impossible to adjust as per everyone’s values and beliefs and expectations, so might as well not give a dime of sh*t. Breathe.
Then again arises the question – what are you supposed to do to change? It is a tad bit tricky to answer this yet I am gonna quote Nike when I say this - JUST DO IT. Just do the deed. You want to change; Take the goddamn action. Of course, I am going to write another blog on this but yeah the point is don’t wait for the cue. The fact that you want to change is THE cue. We live in patterns because we love consistency but imagine if change was consistent in your life? And that brings me to the beginning of the blog - change is the only constant.
Give this one a thought, till I write another one.
